In 2014, China’s cumulative installed capacity of 21.9GW of energy storage ranked second globally.

It is reported that by the end of 2014, the cumulative installed capacity of global energy storage was 141.2GW, of which 99% was pumped energy storage, 787MW was electrochemical energy storage, and 283.1MW was lithium-ion battery technology, accounting for 36% of electrochemical energy storage.

As far as China is concerned, by the end of 2014, China’s cumulative installed capacity of energy storage was 21.9GW, pumped storage accounted for 99.5%, electrochemical energy storage totaled 84.1MW, and lithium-ion battery technology totaled 62.3MW, accounting for 74% of electrochemical energy storage.

From a regional perspective, the fastest growing global energy storage in 2014 was still in the United States, while China also developed very quickly in 2014, ranking second in the world, accounting for 10% of the new energy storage projects in the world, followed by Europe. In terms of total capacity, the United States and Japan are the two countries with the largest installed capacity of energy storage in the world, reaching 357WM and 310WM respectively.
